What is Sex Therapy

What is sex therapy?

Sex therapy is, first and foremost, therapy.

It doesn’t mean that you are having sexual contact or attraction to anyone. What makes it sexy is that we are approaching healing from a sexological perspective that considers how you show up in your body, how intentional and present you are able to remain, and how confidently you are able to access ease and pleasure in your physical body.

One of the biggest myths: sex is “natural”.

Sex may be natural, but good sex definitely isn’t. Good sex requires trust, safety, communication skills, embodiment, healthy boundaries, anatomical understanding, sexual empathy, excitement, novelty, and so much more. Managing to attain all of those in an inherently sex-negative (though sexually aggressive) society is all but impossible without a little bit of help. All of this to say, most people can benefit from sex therapy at some point in their solo or partnered sexual journey.
